Henry Cavill will not return as Superman in Warner Bros.' future DC films, The Hollywood Reporter revealed Wednesday. After the critical and commercial failure of Justice League, Warner Bros. is reportedly aiming to retool its superhero movie universe. The studio had hoped Cavill would make a cameo in its upcoming Shazam!, but those talks evidently fell apart due to Cavill's busy schedule, and Cavill will now walk away from the role entirely. He had portrayed Superman in 2013's Man of Steel, 2016's Batman v. Superman, and 2017's Justice League. In a statement provided to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. did not confirm or deny Wednesday's report but said it had "great respect" for Cavill.
