he video: The inevitable "Saturday Night Live" parody of Christine O'Donnell's "I am not a witch" ad portrays the Delaware Republican Senatorial candidate as a rather hypocritical and compulsively confessional... witch. (See video below.) In the spoof, O'Donnell claims everywoman status because "Just like you, I have to constantly deny that I'm a witch." The mock denial goes off the rails, however, when O'Donnell (portrayed by "SNL" castmember Kristin Wiig) lets slip various references to her witchly powers, and concludes, "Vote for Christine O'Donnell, aka Zareda the Enchantress, because I'm not a witch — and if I am, do you really want to cross me? I didn't think so."
The reaction: "This was one of the better moments of the show, says Glenn Davis at Mediaite. The "increasingly outlandish witch-denials" in the fake ad "brought into focus just how weird the actual race has gotten." But Ryan McGee at HitFix says the bit, though thankfully short, belabored its point by "repeating the same joke through an increasingly elaborate set of synonyms." For her part, O'Donnell has tweeted that she found the clip "really funny," even if Wiig's hair is "better than mine." Watch the clip:
