French swimmers top U.S. in 400m relay

France stunned the U.S. in the final leg of the men's 4x100 freestyle relay on Sunday, as French swimmer Yannick Agnel overtook American Ryan Lochte to give his team the Olympic gold. The U.S. had a strong lead going into the fourth leg, thanks in part to a strong performance by 2008 star Michael Phelps, but Agnel made up the difference in the anchor leg, relegating Team USA to silver-medal status — much like how the U.S. men upset France in Beijing four years ago. "We got our revenge," French swimmer Clement Lefert said. The Australians, early favorites to win the competition, came in fourth. With his silver medal, Phelps moved one medal away from tying  Soviet gymnast Larisa Latynina as the most-decorated Olympian ever.
