resident Obama this week made Republicans a deficit-cutting offer they could definitely refuse: $1.6 trillion in new tax revenues, $50 billion in infrastructure spending, and $400 billion in unspecified Medicare savings. But with the country careening toward the fiscal cliff, some in the GOP say they might have to bite the bullet on raising taxes on the wealthy — even if it awakens the wrath of powerful anti-tax lobbyist Grover Norquist.
