Al Gore has come under plenty of criticism for his recent decision to sell Current TV to the Qatari-owned Al Jazeera. While conservatives have renewed allegations that Al Jazeera is a mouthpiece for Islamic extremist causes, liberals have expressed dismay that Gore, the country's most prominent environmentalist, would put his liberally inclined network in the hands of a company backed by Qatar's oil riches. On Wednesday, Jon Stewart pressed that line of criticism in an interview with Gore, saying, "You had an opportunity to make a statement probably about your principles and some people would feel, and for me as well, I thought it was an odd move. Not because of some of the other things, but because it is backed by fossil fuel money." Gore responded that Al Jazeera has the "highest quality, most extensive, best climate coverage of any network in the world."
