1. Disney is already planning a sequel to Oz the Great and Powerful
Oz the Great and Powerful has been in theaters for less than a day, but executives at Disney are already following the money-lined road and tapping screenwriter Mitchell Kapner to write a sequel to the film — even though a sequel called The Wizard of Oz was already released in 1939. The Huffington Post reports that cast members Mila Kunis and Rachel Weisz have already expressed interest in a possible Oz sequel, though director Sam Raimi may not be onboard — perhaps understandably, given how his last sequel turned out.
2. Joss Whedon explains why Marvel isn't making a Hulk movie
Yesterday, comic book fans got angry — in a way that you wouldn't like — when Mark Ruffalo announced that there are currently no plans to give the Incredible Hulk, his character from The Avengers, his very own movie. But before you start smashing things, let director Joss Whedon explain why: "Is he a monster? Is he a hero? Are you going to root for a protagonist who spends all his time trying to stop the reason you came to the movie from happening." (We have to admit that those are all pretty good points.) Whedon adds that Ruffalo might not want to star in a film that requires him "to wear a motion-capture ping-pong suit for 99 percent of the time." That might actually be more fun to watch than an actual Incredible Hulk movie.
3. Ninja Turtles creator doesn't think Megan Fox should be in the new Ninja Turtles movie either
Playing the calming Splinter to a multitude of crazed, half-shelled Ninja Turtles fans, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles creator Peter Laird has finally weighed in on the news that Megan Fox has been cast in Michael Bay's upcoming film reboot — and like his fans, he's unimpressed. "I think it is safe to say that there are probably hundreds of better choices for the role of April O'Neil," says Laird in a blog post quoted at Yahoo! News. "Of course, her name has promotional value, and maybe that's what they want. Who knows? I can't get myself too worked up about it." Fortunately, there are no shortage of Ninja Turtle fans willing to get worked up about it for him.
4. Kanye West is disappointed that you don't like kilts
When Kanye West started donning leather skirts, he probably imagined himself as a modern version of William Wallace from Braveheart, and not as the instant international punchline he became. So now that enough time has passed, West is finally getting his anger off his chest. Vulture reports that West called radio station Hot97 earlier this week to complain about all the shade that's been thrown at him over the past few months. "They don't like Kanye in a kilt," lamented West. "They don't like Kanye in a relationship" — and somehow failed to add, "How could they be so heartless?"
5. Don't worry, everybody: Judge Reinhold will be in CBS' Beverly Hills Cop pilot
When CBS ordered a TV pilot based on the beloved Beverly Hills Cop, the same question was on everybody's lips: Will Judge Reinhold be in it? Breathe easy, Beverly Hills Cop fans; according to The Wrap, Reinhold has made time in between his self-parodic cameos on Arrested Development and direct-to-video sequels to Dr. Doolittle to join Eddie Murphy by reprising the role he played in the original Beverly Hills Cop trilogy. At present, it remains unclear whether any of the show's characters will stick a banana into a tailpipe.
