Battle in a blizzard
The Eagles and Lions took on each other — and the elements

Give the NFC some credit; cold-weather conditions aren't exactly a novelty when the teams hail from cities such as Detroit and Philadelphia.

Still, the first nasty, slippery, freezing weather to affect games this season began with a vengeance on Sunday in Philly, sending shivers down plenty of fans' spines and contributing to a pre-game Reggie Bush injury (the Detroit running back slipped during warmups and aggravated an existing calf tweak).

Officials tried — and, mostly failed — to at least keep the yard lines clear, and the teams played on, with the Eagles flying to a 34-20 victory on the strength of running back LeSean McCoy's team record 217 yards.
