G

OOD DAY FOR: Eating the cost, after San Francisco restaurants, facing a new employee health care requirement, have started adding on a surcharge to customers’ bills. BAD DAY FOR: Fueling inflation, as investors are betting that oil prices will stay high for years to come, pushing every futures contract through 2016 above $100 a barrel for the first time. The high long-dated oil prices are making it difficult for industries like airlines and utilities to hedge against rising energy costs. (Financial Times, free registration)
