haun White is one fun-loving guy, says Luke Crisell in Nylon Guys. When he’s not out competing on the snowboarding circuit, the 22-year-old Olympic gold medalist spends his time hanging with his buddies and looking for a good time. “Dude, we had a crazy party last night,” he says, pushing his long red hair out of his eyes and reaching for a Red Bull. “We were playing guitar until, like, 4! So rad.” White’s California home, 40 minutes north of San Diego, is a bachelor dream pad, complete with Jacuzzi, swimming pool, and croquet lawn. In the living room is a Ping-Pong table; in the garage is a $350,000 Lamborghini. He crashed the old one while racing his friends to the pizzeria. “I mean, if you’ve got a car like this you gotta do that kinda s--t.” All this arrested adolescence may sound frivolous, but White insists it serves a purpose. “If you just sit around and train in the summer because you’re going to be ‘the best snowboarder in the winter,’ and that’s all you’re thinking about, it’s not good. What kid my age wouldn’t buy the fast car? Who wouldn’t do the fun stuff? That’s kind of my secret to the whole thing—it stays fun.” He pushes his mirrored sunglasses back up the bridge of his nose. “You just gotta remember the reason you started doing it in the first place.”
