&B singer Beyoncé Knowles is “already a superstar,” said Caroline Graham in the Daily Mail online, but now she “wants to be a superhero—as the first black Wonder Woman.” She’s met with executives at DC Comics and Warner Brothers, and has likened the possibility of “landing the role”—based on the comic book heroine and originally played by Lynda Carter in the 1970s TV series—to “the election of Barack Obama.”

Casting a black Wonder Woman seems as risky as casting a black James Bond, said Fashion.ie. Then again, “Hollywood has been trying to get a Wonder Woman movie off the ground for years, with several actresses linked to the role,” such as Jessica Biel, Katie Holmes, and Evangeline Lilly. Maybe it wouldn’t hurt to “let Beyoncé try on the costume.”

Beyoncé already has a proven flair for "adventurous movie roles,” said Dan Martin in the Guardian online, “having starred in Austin Powers: Goldmember and The Pink Panther movies.” She also recently unveiled her “latest alter ego, Sasha Fierce”—perhaps in preparation for the role? Beyoncé may be just the right person to play Wonder Woman.
