Isabella Rossellini’s ‘Green Porno’
How the actress handles animal sex in her short-film series
I

f you’ve ever placed Isabella Rossellini on a pedestal, said Monica Hesse in The Washington Post, you may want to “stop reading.” Season 2 of Green Porno—the actress’ short-film series about the sex lives of animals—premiered on the Sundance Channel Wednesday, and, to be fair, it's "often hilarious." But it's also “graphic” and “disturbing.” (watch a preview)

Rossellini certainly isn’t afraid to put herself out there, said Ben Walters in the Guardian. During the first season of Green Porno, Rossellini “enthusiastically portrayed, among other things, a bee bleeding to death after leaving its penis inside its mate” and “a mantis having its head rather frighteningly chewed off in flagrante delicto.” (watch an episode from Season 1)

“You've got to love Isabella Rossellini,” said Rob Sharp in The Independent. Who else “could get these films commissioned”? Unlike other big-name performers, Rossellini doesn’t take herself “too seriously.” And as a result she’s managed to deliver a series that’s “engaging and graphic without being crude,” while tackling “a sensitive subject with intellectual subtlety and creative flair.”
