Walead Beshty clearly believes in happy accidents. The Los Angeles–based artist’s recent work again showcases the types of production or display glitches that peers might labor to hide. When his color processor began malfunctioning, he used its slips to create a photo series of bold color bands. He also folds large sheets of industrial copper and lets each piece accumulate the handprints of those who move or install it. Previously, Beshty created glass boxes to fit snugly inside various FedEx boxes, then displayed the cracked, chipped results of shipping them. Never has he failed to invent a new way to let chance produce objects of striking beauty. At Regen Projects, 6750 Santa Monica Blvd., Los Angeles, (310) 276-5424. Prices range from $15,000 to $200,000.
