Ravi Zupa is as eclectic an artist as they come. The Denver-based collagist melds together pictorial traditions to create a complex yet distinctive style of his own. Two kinds of collages are featured in “Hard Dream,” a collection of works created this year. One is an East-meets-West mashup of imagery from Indian portraiture, European Renaissance painting, and Japanese woodblock prints. In the other, we see animals engaging in activities—playing the violin, riding a motorcycle, shooting a bow and arrow—that require manual dexterity. In the real world, only humans can master these skills. In Zupa’s world, anything is possible. At Subliminal Projects, 1331 W. Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles, (213) 213-0078. Prices range from $2,000 to $6,400.
