Ron English isn’t content simply to skewer pop-culture icons anymore. Known for inventing characters like MC Supersized, the bloated Ronald McDonald–like figure featured in a popular 2004 documentary about the health risks of fast food, English is now supersizing his own ambitions. The paintings in the series “Popagandastan” imagine an entire candy-coated dystopia populated with characters out of a cartoonist’s fever dream, like a rabbit with two warring brains and ducks that peddle a drug that makes users believers in every thought that crosses their minds. Wait, is he talking about us? At Corey Helford Gallery, 8522 Washington Blvd., Culver City, Calif., (310) 287-2340. Prices range from $16,000 to $80,000.
