Fox News thinks Fox News did a bang-up job with its interview earlier this week of Reza Aslan, the Muslim religious scholar and author of the new book Zealot: The Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth.
In the video above, frequent Fox guest Brent Bozell of the Media Research Center argues that Lauren Green, the Fox host who conducted the now-infamous interview, had done a great job by repeatedly asking Aslan how his Muslim faith impacted his research.
"She's asking him 'Do you have a bias? Are you being influenced by your faith to write what you're writing?'" Bozell argues.
"The Muslim faith believes Jesus Christ did not have a divine nature," he goes on. "Therefore, if he's going to take the attitude that he's just a scholar, he just happens to be Muslim, that he really didn't care about this issue so much, he's not a very good Muslim."
Green led off her chat with Aslan by asking him, "You're a Muslim, so why did you write a book about the founder of Christianity?" She then asked several more iterations of that same question throughout the interview, with Aslan again and again restating his copious credentials and insisting he was a scholar who "just happens to be Muslim." The interview was pilloried around the web for its anti-Muslim overtones.
