Chinese golf phenom Guan Tianlang is just 14 years old — the youngest player in Masters' history. And in the opening round of the major tournament at Augusta on Thursday, he finished one over par, carding a first-round 73. That left him ahead of seasoned golf pros like defending champion Bubba Watson and England's Ian Poulter, ranked number 12 in the world. "Phil Mickelson said he could not believe how well the 14-year-old Guan putted," says Karen Crouse at The New York Times. "Tiger Woods praised his pinpoint accuracy with his hybrid club." As one spectator remarked, "Can you imagine a 14-year-old wearing a green jacket?" Guan himself played down the hype, saying simply, "I think probably not this year — but I think I can win it in the future." Bet on it.
