Joss Stone’s big scare

You might expect Joss Stone to be a bit shaken up, says Alan Jackson in the London Daily Mail. Last month, two men were arrested outside the British soul singer’s home in southwestern England and charged with plotting to attack and rob her. The car they were in contained swords, rope, a body bag, and overalls. Yet the 24-year-old refuses to feel spooked. “I’m fine,” she insists, “if slightly baffled by it. I can’t stress about what didn’t happen. That would seem silly. Every job has positives and negatives, and I guess this was one of the negatives that come with mine.”
The incident has, however, had the effect of making her a bit more aware of her own security. “In that sense, it’s been a blessing in disguise.” She’s not exactly sure why anyone would target her, though there have been rumors that she’s worth in excess of $14 million. On the whole, the scare has made her realize how lucky she is. The men were spotted and reported by neighbors, which has “highlighted to me how brilliant the community down here is. Everyone is like extended family, looking out for each other. I could never live anywhere else.”
