The video: Are the Beastie Boys back? The hip-hop rockers famous for their 1987 hit "(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party)" are on the comeback trail with a new single, "Make Some Noise," and a new album, "Hot Sauce Committee Part 2," set to drop on May 3. To commemorate the release, the Beasties have teamed up with a murderers row of comedians and actors — from Seth Rogan to Susan Sarandon — for a 30-minute short film, Fight For Your Right Revisited. (Watch a trailer for the film below.) Directed by Adam "MCA" Yauch, the film imagines what would happen if the aging Beastie Boys returned to the past to teach their younger selves how to act.
The reaction: "Talk about star-studded," says Megan Gibson at TIME. We're pretty sure it would "defy the laws of physics if one more celebrity was packed into this two-minute trailer." The return to the past in the film is mirrored in their new track, "Make Some Noise," says Sean O'Neal at The A.V. Club, which sees the Beasties "get back to old-school rhyming." You can hear Elijah Wood mime a snatch of it at the 0:52 point. Yauch debuted the film at the Sundance Film Festival, says Katie Hasty at HitFix, and, having seen it, "I will warn you it's not non-stop laughs as the trailer would have you believe." But, as a medium to showcase their new material, it's ideal. Check out the trailer:
