“Blame Robert Pattinson,” said Gina Serpe in E! Online. Now that movies like Twilight and everything vampire-related are “suddenly all the rage, plans for a new Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie have inevitably come to pass.” But the new movie won't involve TV Buffy Sarah Michelle Gellar, or "film and TV mastermind Joss Whedon.” No wonder this news is “angering” Buffy fans. Supposedly Fran Rubel Kuzui, who directed the first Buffy movie and plans on directing the new one, said Ani Vrabel in Paste, wants “to respect Whedon's creation as its own beast and start a new story line altogether.” Regardless, “if vampires are even a fraction as common in real life as pop culture makes them out to be, we should probably all consider investing in some garlic and a stake.”

“Is it wrong that I am 100 percent” in favor of a new Buffy movie? said Krystal Clark in Screen Crave. “I never understood why everyone hated the first movie”—it was great. And just “as long as they don’t choose someone I hate to play Buffy or the Watcher, I’ll stand behind this.” (watch the trailer for the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie)
