Brooke Shields this week accused reporters from The National Enquirer of checking out her elderly mother, who suffers from dementia, from a nursing home in search of a story. The reporters, Shields told People, pretended to be friends with her 75-year-old mother. “The idea that The National Enquirer took advantage of her state is reprehensible and disgusting,” she said. The tabloid responded that the reporter who checked out Teri Shields knew her for 10 years, and that “Teri asked the reporter to take her out to lunch and to run some errands.” Police found them together at a restaurant near the facility.
