India’s Tata Motors stopped work on a factory that was slated to start manufacturing the $2,500 Nano car in October, after months of protests that blocked roads. Tata has already invested $350 million in the plant, but said it is looking for an alternate site. Farmers, backed by the regional government, accused Tata of forcing farmers off their land with insufficient compensation. (Reuters)
