Even as the striking Hollywood writers near a contract deal with producers, making it likely that the Academy Awards will go on this year, Vanity Fair has canceled its A-list party for the Oscars. “I don’t think it’s appropriate for a big magazine from the East to come in and pretend nothing happened,” said Graydon Carter, the magazine’s editor. “There will be something sort of liberating about ordering Chinese food and watching the Oscars in bed,” he added.
