Exxon Mobil unveiled plans to build a liquified natural gas terminal 20 miles off the New Jersey shore, a $1 billion project that would provide 1.2 billion cubic feet a day to the East Coast. Exxon has faced resistance to land-based terminals from environmentalists and local residents.
