For unloading old stuff
▪ Letgo is a popular, user-friendly alternative to Craigslist. Send a photo of an item you’d like to sell and it categorizes the item automatically. Users communicate via the app’s chat system to schedule meet-ups, and trust can be developed by cross-verifying through email or social media. Sales are cash only.
▪ 5Miles is like Letgo, except that it enables transactions made without cash or a faceto- face sale. Payments can be made by wire and completed when the buyer confirms an item’s receipt. Unfortunately, 5Miles pesters sellers with prompts recommending they pay to promote any items they’re selling.
▪ Gone appraises electronics based on photos and specs. If you agree to the price, Gone has the item picked up, lists it on sites like eBay and Amazon, and mails you a check if it sells.
▪ OfferUp, like Craigslist, facilitates only cash, in- person sales. But it holds users accountable using Facebook accounts and driver’s licenses.
