Trump sidelines Tillerson over Iran
President Trump is fed up with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson’s position on Iran and has created a White House panel charged with making the case that Tehran is not upholding its side of the nuclear deal, Foreign Policy reported this week. Sources said Trump had specifically asked Tillerson to lay the groundwork for allowing Trump to declare that Tehran was not in compliance at last week’s 90-day review of the agreement. “Tillerson did not do this, and Trump is infuriated,” said a source. Tillerson is reportedly frustrated that Trump frequently undercuts him and other Cabinet members, and is considering resigning before the end of his first year. Tillerson was “taking a little time off” this week, the State Department confirmed.
