▪ Actress Meghan Markle this week spoke for the first time about her relationship with Britain’s Prince Harry, saying they’re “in love” and hinting a royal wedding might be coming. “At the end of the day, I think it’s really simple,” she told Vanity Fair. “Wearkle, who is biracial. “It has its challenges, and it comes in waves,” she admits. Harry recently said he’d “love to have kids now,” but Markle remains mum about rumors they’re already engaged. “There will be a time when we will have to come forward and present ourselves and have stories to tell,” she says. “But I hope what people will understand is that this is our time. This is for us.”
▪ Tennis great Serena Williams became a first-time mother last week, as she and her fiancé, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, welcomed a 6-pound, 13-ounce baby daughter. The Women’s Tennis Association’s top-ranked player, Williams, 35, gave birth in West Palm Beach, Fla.—while elder sister Venus, 37, was advancing at the U.S. Open in New York. “Obviously, I’m super excited,” Venus said. “Words can’t describe it.” Winner of 23 Grand Slam titles, Serena had announced her pregnancy in April. “Two weeks after we found out [I was pregnant], I played the Australian Open,” she later told Vogue. “I told Alexis it has to be a girl, because there I was playing in 100-degree weather, and that baby never gave me any trouble. Women are tough that way.” Williams plans to return to the tennis tour in January 2018.
▪ Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom “are back together,” a source tells EOnline.com. The pop star and the British actor, who split in March, were spotted paddleboarding on a California beach over Labor Day weekend, the second time they’ve been seen together in recent weeks. Perry, 32, and Bloom, 40, “never stopped loving each other,” the source says. “They wanted to initially take things slow. But they love being together and traveling with each other, so it just so happened to speed up. They are in a great place.”
