Charity of the week
Tens of millions of Americans suffer from depression, anxiety disorders such as post-traumatic stress disorder, and other serious mental illnesses, and fewer than half seek out treatment in any given year. Give an Hour (giveanhour.org) aims to fill the gap by connecting individuals in need of treatment with licensed mental healt h professionals who are willing to offer their services at no cost. Founded in 2005 to help veterans and military families dealing with depression or trauma, GAH has recently expanded to serve victims of natural disasters, mass shootings, and human trafficking. Over the past 12 years, GAH’s network of volunteer providers has donated more than 233,000 hours of services to help those in need of counseling and mental health care.
