For purchasing art
Art.com offers more than 2 million fine art posters, prints, and photographs, yet manages to take the stress out of choosing. Its iOS-only app uses augmented reality to show exactly how any work or group of works will look in your room, and the effect is “surprisingly realistic.”
Saatchi Art sells original work, not reprints, and offers 500,000 paintings, drawings, sculptures, photographs, and limited-edition prints from emerging artists around the world. The app’s “view in a room” function isn’t as effective as Art.com’s, but you can pay a fee to hire a Saatchi curator to help with your selections.
Picture That AR lets you visualize what your smartphone photos might look like hanging on the wall. The feature “still has a way to go,” but it’s improving. And the app makes it easy to order digital prints of your photos for $36 to $84, depending on size.
