For making peer-to-peer payments
Apple Pay is the best app around for making secure peer-to-peer payments. It works, though, only on Apple devices.
Venmo, like the three apps listed below, is both iOS- and Android-compatible and a strong performer overall. Venmo’s customer support is particularly good. It just doesn’t match Apple Pay on data security, data privacy, and payment authentication controls.
Cash App provides stronger data security than Venmo but a less ironclad payment authentication process.
Facebook P2P Payments is convenient for Facebook Messenger users, but its data privacy and customer support are subpar, and like Zelle, it allows only transfers between bank accounts—no credit cards.
Zelle lags because of poor data security and privacy. But customer support is excellent, and the app’s security should improve with an October update.
