Saturday Night Live took a break from comedy to honor the late David Bowie. To much applause, former star Fred Armisen showed up to pay tribute, reminiscing with the crowd about how he stayed up late in high school to watch Bowie's 1979 performance on the show.

"David Bowie transformed whatever space he was in, whatever medium was using, and that night for me he transformed live television," Armisen said, before introducing a clip of "The Man Who Sold the World." Julie Kliegman
