Neil Patrick Harris has signed on to star in Netflix's adaptation of A Series of Unfortunate Events, Flavorwire reports. The chipper NPH will try his hand at portraying the sinister Count Olaf, a greedy guardian of three mystery-solving orphans, in his first scripted TV role since How I Met Your Mother.

Men in Black veteran Barry Sonnenfeld will direct Harris and his band of children. In the 2004 movie based on Lemony Snicket's popular series, Jim Carrey was tapped to play Olaf.
