The Cleveland Indians on Tuesday night beat the Detroit Tigers 2-0, tying the American League record with their 20th consecutive win.

The AL record was set by the Oakland Athletics in 2002. The all-time Major League Baseball record is held by the 1935 Chicago Cubs, who won 21 straight games. The Indians, who lost to the Cubs in the World Series last year, took the lead early in the first inning, when shortstop Francisco Lindor hit a home run, his 30th of the season; a second run came in the eighth inning. Pitcher Corey Kluber had eight strikeouts over nine innings, with just five hits.
