Mexican President-elect Andrés Manuel López Obrador, a leftist populist who won in a landslide Sunday, confirmed he spoke to President Trump for half an hour on Monday. Trump had tweeted that he was "very much looking forward to working" with the new Mexican president after his victory was secured, and López Obrador said the leaders discussed "development projects that generate jobs in Mexico, thereby reducing migration and improving security," BuzzFeed News' Hayes Brown reports.

Trump told reporters Monday that his conversation with López Obrador touched on "border security," "trade," and "NAFTA," and boasted that he had predicted López Obrador would one day be Mexico's president when he saw him campaigning "for a different race" in "a different year."
