Texas Republican Pete Sessions loses House seat to former NFL player Colin Allred

Democrat Colin Allred beat longtime Rep. Pete Sessions (R-Texas) in the Dallas-area 32nd Congressional District, which voted narrowly for Hillary Clinton in 2016, CBS News and NBC News project. Allred, a 35-year-old lawyer, former NFL player, and Housing and Urban Development Department official, is making his first run for elective office.

Sessions, 63, has been in Congress since 1997, represented the district since 2003, and didn't even face a Democratic challenger in 2016. He is the chairman of the House Rules Committee.
