FBI Director James Comey announced Monday that the FBI and the Justice Department have "no information to support" President Trump's tweets claiming former President Barack Obama wiretapped his phones at Trump Tower during the 2016 presidential election. "And we have looked carefully inside the FBI," Comey said while addressing the House Intelligence Committee at a hearing on Russia's interference in the election. When asked if it would even be possible for Obama to "unilaterally" order a wiretap, Comey was blunt. "No president could," he said, noting court approval is needed to direct a wiretap. White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said later Monday that Trump is still not ready to walk back the baseless allegations because the hearing is "still ongoing."
