Former Vice President Joe Biden announced in a video Thursday morning that he's making a third bid for president. Biden, 76, starts out with strong name recognition, support from organized labor, and strong ties to former President Barack Obama. He picked up numerous endorsements in the hours following his announcement, including from Sens. Chris Coons (D-Del.), Tom Carper (D-Del.), Bob Casey (D-Pa.) and Doug Jones (D-Ala.). FiveThirtyEight reports Biden has received the most out-of-state endorsements of any 2020 Democrat. Biden's former colleagues touted his experience and legislative accomplishments, with Casey also highlighting his electability. Obama through a spokesperson praised Biden on Thursday but did not endorse him, and Biden told reporters he asked Obama not to do so.
