The United States on Friday reported the highest number of new COVID-19 cases since July. Over 69,000 new coronavirus infections were reported on Oct. 16, which was up from almost 64,000 new cases a day earlier. It was also the most daily cases since July 29, when 71,300 coronavirus infections were reported. This comes after the United States passed the grim milestone of eight million confirmed coronavirus infections, according to Johns Hopkins University. The U.S. is seeing an average of over 55,000 new coronavirus cases a day, which is up from the average of about 34,000 daily cases on Sept. 12. At least 10 states on Friday reported their highest number of new COVID-19 cases in a day since the beginning of the pandemic.
