A bad trend for cable channels
Over the last two years, the share of U.S. households subscribing to premium cable channels, such as HBO, Showtime, and Starz, dropped 6 percentage points, according to a report from NDP Group. In the same period, subscriptions to video-on-demand services like Netflix, Hulu Plus, and Amazon Prime rose by 4 percentage points.

Auto leases are up
As the U.S. economy improves, it is becoming easier to secure leases on autos. New data shows that 72.7 percent of credit requests for auto leases were approved last year, up from 65.3 percent in 2012.

Cash-wielding Chinese tourists
More than 17 percent of Chinese travelers say the U.S. is their top vacation destination. Chinese tourists spend an average of $4,400 per trip to the U.S., making them the second-biggest spenders among foreign visitors, after those from India.

North Dakota's new millionaires
One of every 20 U.S. households has more than $1 million of investable assets, excluding real estate holdings. Thanks to its booming oil-and-gas sector, North Dakota jumped a record 14 spots on the ranking of states in terms of millionaires per capita, from 43rd last year to 29th. Maryland has the highest proportion of millionaires for the third year in a row.
