President Nixon reached an agreement to end the Vietnam War
Jan. 23, 1973: President Richard Nixon announced an agreement had been reached with North Vietnam to end the Vietnam War. Nixon said the end of the war in Vietnam — then the longest in U.S. history — would bring "peace with honor." 58,209 Americans died.
