Hotel of the week: Viceroy New York

“This may be the most New York hotel since the Plaza opened in 1907.”

New York City

“This may be the most New York hotel since the Plaza opened in 1907,” said Matt Chaban in the New York Daily News. The Viceroy is a newly built tower on 57th Street, but it feels as if it was built in the Manhattan of a century ago. Each space inside exudes a “bohemian-but-baronial aesthetic,” beginning with a marble-floored lobby in which every surface is “textured, hand-wrought, interesting.” The custom wood cabinetry in the rooms recalls the cabins of a 1907 luxury ocean liner, except that the windows here open—and look out over Central Park.viceroyhotelsandresorts.com; doubles from $431
