Tea Partiers reveal their true colors

For a vivid picture of the true nature of the Tea Party, said Brian -Beutler, consider the rally it staged at the National Mall last weekend. A few hundred furious truckers and veterans allied with the Tea Party rallied outside the World War II Memorial and the White House to denounce Obamacare and the president in what conservative media initially described as a “game-changing” event, because it supposedly represented a popular uprising by the American people. But then the “Don’t Tread on Me” flags were joined by a large Confederate flag, which its bearer waved outside the gates of the home where the first black president and his family live. One Tea Party leader, Freedom Watch founder Larry Klayman, said in a speech that the U.S. is ruled by “a president who bows down to Allah,” and called on Americans to rebel and demand that Obama “put the Quran down” and leave the White House “with his hands up.” Fellow speakers Sarah Palin and Sens. Ted Cruz and Mike Lee apparently saw nothing wrong with this lunatic rhetoric, and cheered the Tea Partiers’ noble cause on. So this is why the GOP held the nation hostage—to appease a small group of menacing “neo-Confederate fantasists.”
