Brussels

“Whimsy reigns” in the guest rooms of this stylish hotel at the very heart of Brussels, said John Oseid in Condé Nast Traveler. A 16th-century prison that became luxury lodging in the 1950s, the building was purchased by hotelier Rocco Forte in 2000 and fully refurbished. Today, the rooms are decorated with framed prints of René Magritte’s surrealist paintings as well as statues of Tintin, the Belgian cartoon hero. Spring for the $6,300 Armand Blaton Suite and you’ll find that its roof balcony is a “premier spot” for a close-up view of Brussels’s famed city hall.
