Where to buy...Julie Davidow

A select exhibition in a private gallery

Julie Davidow’s paintings and drawings take shape organically. Borrowing imagery from biology, botany, geology, and cartography, Davidow creates boldly patterned canvases in which thorns, river systems, and vein networks seem to erupt from bold architectural lines. In her latest series, titled “archiTECTONICS,” the Miami-based artist takes her architectural cues directly from Daniel Libeskind’s Denver Art Museum, Affonso Reidy’s Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro, Santiago Calatrava’s Milwaukee Art Museum, and other art museums worldwide. Details of those buildings act as scaffolding for Davidow’s explorations. The finished works suggest new ways of understanding the relationship between natural and built environments. At Diana Lowenstein Gallery, 2043 N. Miami Ave., Miami, (305) 576-1804. Prices range from $850 to $8,000.
