Irony alert: Lindsay Lohan to launch rehab centers?
As she continues to struggle with addiction, the former teen idol reportedly wants to open up her own treatment facility. Really?
The irony: Lindsay Lohan, the perennially troubled fallen starlet isn't exactly a poster child for the recovery process. The 24-year-old is currently rehabbing at the Betty Ford Center — her fifth such stint (and one she was reportedly too broke to afford). Nevertheless, said Lohan's mother, Dina, on the "Today" show yesterday, Lindsay has found her latest rehab experience so "life-changing" that she's thinking of getting into the business herself. "She wants to start her own [rehab], help other children," Dina said.
The reaction: "It's like they say — stick with what you know," says Megan Gibson in Time. But "the fact that Lohan has been in rehab five times in the last three years… doesn't really inspire a lot of confidence in her recovery advice." Lohan would first have to "build up a track record of success," says Romy Ribitzky at Portfolio, "if she wants to have her brand of rehab accepted, and respected, among an already-crowded field." Agreed, says Linda Sharps at The Stir. "Right now my vision of a Lindsay Lohan Rehab Facility includes a free eightball with a six-month membership... and a lifetime of counseling for dealing with your godforsaken famewhoring parents."
