'The View' vs. Bill O'Reilly: The aftermath

The ladies of "The View" clash over Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg's now-infamous reaction to O'Reilly's take on the Park51 Islamic center

The video: Last week on "The View," co-hosts Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg stormed off the set in the middle of a heated discussion with Bill O'Reilly about the proposed Park51 Islamic center in lower Manhattan — and today they addressed the much-blogged-about incident on-air. (Watch clip below.) "In this show, we always speak about standing up to bigotry, so I stood up," Behar said, defending her actions, while Goldberg added, "I hit my saturation point." But the show's anchor, Barbara Walters, wasn't buying it: "You don't walk out of your own home," she says. "This is just what [O'Reilly] wanted... I think it was the wrong thing to do."
The reaction:
"At the end of the day," says Whitney Jefferson at Gawker, Behar can't get over the fact that this is such a big deal, and neither can we . Goldberg said it best, says Ken Tucker in Entertainment Weekly. "Time to move on." It's worth noting, says Mark Perigard in The Boston Herald, that Walters suggested that the show's "passion" had inspired others to "copy" it — CBS's "The Talk," a rip-off of "The View," debuts this afternoon.
