If a former roadie for Jimi Hendrix is to be believed, said Sadie Gray in the London Independent, then the rock legend “was murdered by his manager, who stood to collect millions of dollars on the star's life-insurance policy.” In his upcoming book, Rock Roadie, James “Tappy” Wright claims that Michael Jeffrey “drunkenly confessed to killing” Hendrix “by stuffing pills into his mouth and washing them down with several bottles of red wine.”

“The circumstances of Hendrix’s death have always been cause for speculation and the subject of conspiracy theories,” said Chattah Box, and now it looks like we may finally have “some confirmation to these claims.” It’s definitely plausible: Michael Jeffrey “has always been a controversial figure,” and he’s “been accused by members of the Animals and Jimi Hendrix’s family of cheating them of earnings.”

But “rather than alert the authorities,” said Todd Martens in the Los Angeles Times, James “Tappy” Wright “clearly did the honorable thing of holding onto such information for nearly 40 years before using it to sell a book.” Give me a break—it’s pretty obvious that Wright is just trying to generate some buzz.
