Will Jon and Kate Gosselin see a marriage counselor?

And will TV cameras follow them into therapy?

There could be a new character in the new season of Jon and Kate Gosselin’s reality show—a marriage counselor, said The National Enquirer. People close to Kate Gosselin say she initially didn’t want counseling, but she changed her mind because she wants to continue Jon & Kate Plus 8 on TLC for two more seasons. And with all the infidelity and divorce rumors flying, the marriage doesn’t seem likely to survive that long without some help.

Keeping the show on the air is the last thing Kate Gosselin should be worrying about, said Megan Gall in Examiner.com. The marital strife between the Gosselins must be tough on their 5-year-old sextuplets, and their two other kids. “Hopefully, for the sake of the Gosselin children, the marriage counseling will do the couple some good and they can eventually put this all behind them.”

Talk about suspense, said the AP’s Frazier Moore in the San Francisco Chronicle. TLC has promised that the new season’s kickoff, at 9 p.m. Monday, will “properly address the negative publicity surrounding the Gosselins.” (watch a commercial for the new season of TLC's Jon & Kate Plus 8) But this is getting ugly—it will be tough for TLC to “strike a balance between the racy new reality of its monster hit series, and holding firm to what the network stands for: family friendly fare.”
