“Uh-oh. Now gays really, legitimately, democratically, and completely non-sneakily have won the right to marry, in Vermont. This is the first state to approve gay marriage through a legislature rather than impose it from the bench. Those who chafe at the decision should ask themselves whether their reasoning is something else in disguise. If marriages that can’t produce children by the traditional method ought to be illegal, then half my straight friends’ marriages would never have taken place. Christians remain free to disapprove of homosexuality, just as they remain free to disapprove of their neighbor’s alcoholism or adultery or bad taste in lawn ornaments. They also remain free to move to a country that enforces religious views.”
