Slumdog Millionaire; Tell No One; Shakespeare’s An Age of Kings (1960)

Slumdog Millionaire(20th Century Fox, $29.98)Slumdog Millionaire has “gone from the little-movie-that-could to the supreme crowd-pleaser,” said the New York Daily News. The “rousing tale,” about an Indian orphan who triumphs against all odds, has a Best Picture Oscar to boot. Extras include a featurette with director Danny Boyle.

Tell No One(Music Box Films, $27.98)If it weren’t for the subtitles, Tell No One would have been recognized as one of last year’s best movies, said the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Based on a Harlan Coben novel, the French film about a pediatrician who becomes a suspect in his wife’s murder eight years earlier, is a “thinking person’s thriller.”

Shakespeare’s An Age of Kings (1960)(BBC Video, $49.98)This 1960 British miniseries displayed “ambition ahead of its time,” said The Boston Globe. The “Bard’s history plays are woven into a century-long chronicle,” from Richard II through Richard III, and feature “early turns” by such British actors as Sean Connery and Judi Dench.
