Australia; Hobson’s Choice; A Moment in History: The Inauguration of Barack Obama

Australia(20th Century Fox, $29.99)Baz Luhrmann’s “utterly preposterous and insanely entertaining” ode to his homeland deserves another look, said The Washington Post. Australia stars Nicole Kidman as an English aristocrat and Hugh Jackman as a cattle drover in the Outback. Expect bonus scenes of Jackman shirtless.

Hobson’s Choice(Criterion, $40)“Before graduating to major epics” such as Lawrence of Arabia, director David Lean mastered black-and-white filmmaking, said USA Today. This 1954 adaptation of British playwright Harold Brighouse’s comedy about “flouting societal conventions” was his black-and-white “swan song.”

A Moment in History: The Inauguration of Barack Obama(MPI Home Video, $14.98)In case you were in a cave and missed President Obama’s swearing-in, ABC has preserved it for you, said the Chicago Daily Herald. Footage chronicles the day from the inaugural speech to the president’s first dance with the First Lady.
